Why it exists
Most "save as PDF" tools send the page address to a server and convert a fresh copy there. That breaks on anything behind a login, anything dynamic, anything personal. This extension prints the page exactly as your browser renders it, on your computer, and downloads the file. Nothing leaves your machine.
What you get
- One click: the toolbar button, the right-click menu, or Alt+Shift+P.
- Real PDFs: selectable text, working links, headings in the outline, backgrounds optional.
- Your layout rules: pages that define their own print size are respected.
- Paper size (A4, Letter, Legal), portrait or landscape, margins or none, scale.
- Filenames from the page title, with
{title}{domain}{date}{time}tokens. - "Ask where to save" if you want the dialog every time.
Pro, one-time
A single license, no subscription, sold through Lemon Squeezy. It unlocks saving every tab of the window at once, merging them into one PDF, and header and footer text on every page. Enter the key on the extension's options page.
What it asks for, and why
- Access the page debugger backend
- This is the only way Chrome lets an extension render a page to PDF locally. Chrome shows a yellow bar saying the extension "started debugging this browser" while the PDF is generated, usually well under a second, and removes it when the capture ends.
- Downloads
- To save the file.
- The active tab
- To read the title and address of the tab you clicked on, for the filename.
- Storage
- To remember your settings on your own browser.
- Context menus and notifications
- For the right-click entry, and to tell you when a page cannot be captured. Chrome blocks every extension on its own internal pages and on the Web Store.
